In the heart of Montréal, the Société des arts technologiques (SAT) will play host to a series of captivating audiovisual performances during MUTEK Montréal. One of the standout events is the installation of Homeostasis, an immersive performance by Ida Toninato and Pierre-Luc Lecours, scheduled for August 21 at 10:45 pm in the Satosphere.

Homeostasis is an exploration of balance between nature, technology, and humans in a post-pandemic world. The musical portion of the performance is based on long arpeggios generated by Pierre-Luc's modular synthesizer, creating a harmonious blend of sound and vision. The visual dimension of Homeostasis reacts instantly to the music, interpreted by Toninato on the saxophone, adding a dynamic and visually stunning layer to the performance.

Montreal-born composer, DJ, and globetrotter Gayance (Aïsha C. Vertus) is expected to present new material for the successor to her album Mascarade, released in spring 2023. Also, Swiss songwriter, composer, and performer A UFO will grace the stage with her unstable fusion of reggaeton, hyperpop, and techno, sung in English, Spanish, and French.

Quebec-based composer and DJ Kaytranada has released a surprise album, his fifth since 2016. Miami-based composer and DJ Nick Leon's album A Tropical Entropy will also be presented at MUTEK. Leon's music reimagines reggaeton with a psychedelic and experimental touch.

The musical storytelling doesn't stop there. Angelo Finaldi will share the story of the creation of the hit "Lady Marmalade" and its connection to Quebec disco. Additionally, Montrealers can look forward to the performance of one of the founders of techno music, Kevin Saunderson, on August 21 and 22.

On a separate note, the musical portion of the Superfrancofest, titled "The Summer of My Songs", will bring together 15 musicians of all ages at the Agora du Port de Québec. This event promises to be a celebration of music and culture, showcasing the rich talent that Montréal has to offer.

Homeostasis was developed during the 2021 MUTEK festival and was released independently. Ida Toninato's saxophone practice is influenced by free-jazz and the tension effects of John Coltrane's music, adding a layer of complexity and emotion to the performance.

MUTEK Montréal offers a diverse lineup of audiovisual performances, each promising to deliver unique and captivating experiences. Whether you're a music enthusiast, a techno aficionado, or simply someone looking for a night of entertainment, MUTEK Montréal has something for everyone.
